Since Yukio's at 3,000 comments annnd I have a free day today \o/ Questions meme for Mal / Sapphire and Yukio / Ruby! With one caveat: no super-general relationship questions, like "How does Mal/Yukio feel about X?" I suck super hard at those guys and your question will hang in limbo forever if you do that. :D;; Give me a specific aspect of the relationship to start from and I can probably work out to something more general.

THREE THINGS YUKIO APPRECIATES ABOUT HIS TEAM and three things he wishes Ruby either didn't do or did better :Da

APPRECIATES
1. That they all seem to be trying really hard!! even if sometimes they ... fail ... Like Wrath was kind of grumpy at first, but then he got Yukio a first aid kit and has generally been trying to include Yukio as part of Ruby and not letting him drift off to other teams when he gets punched in the face. He also knows that Acedia is ... ttttrying in his own way, or at least isn't intentionally digging into Yukio like he does to Oz sometimes. Ruby tries to hold together even when they suck at it, and Yukio's super glad to be on a team that has that kind of bond.

2. Ruby seems to be pretty sensible! For ... certain definitions I guess but they could be a whole lot weirder, and from what Yukio's seen of games they seem to be pretty functional, even if the end result is kind of weird. The trap game and the kissing game had them working together well (Sterling doesn't count), and Automaton's decoration game was like ... Ruby in a nutshell ... CRAZY and kinda weird but they're internally consistent and that's what matters.

3. Ruby needs him :< Not in a clingy sort of way -- he wouldn't like that -- but he can sense that there's a gap in Ruby that he's filling competently, and if there's one thing Yukio looooves it's being competent. He doesn't mind not being a fighter as long as his doctoring skills are going to be useful, and it seems like that's going to be the case. Again Wrath's medkit gift was just like. Perfect timing to make Yukio feel good about his position in ruby.

RUBY STOP THAT .-.
1. Ruby keeps doing stupid things!! Or at least they do things that Yukio perceives as being reckless, and why doesn't everyone write obsessive notes on the board about where they've been and what they're doing, omg. He's sort of accepted the fact that pretty much everyone else on the team is a fighter in some way, and that as such they need to get out and kill monsters sometimes. But on the other hand hearing about it makes him kind of frustrated because he was warned! constantly! about how dangerous dusk and dawn are, and here are his teammates just wandering out and doing shit out there like it ain't no thing. It'll be a while since he gets back up to the skill (and unhappiness) required for him to find violence to be stress-relieving.

2. Ruby freaks out when he wanders off. ....... okay that's mostly Wrath, and it's probably just for that one time at Peridot, but still! He doesn't get how him needing a few hours off from Ruby is worse than a few hours of Dawn wandering out to fight monsters, or whatever. Yukio needs his space sometimes, especially when his teammate apparently remembers him being an awful person. He's kind of concerned about what will happen if his memories really get bad and he needs time off to go harass his brother or something. Or even his usual level of activity, because Yukio's a dude who always has a million things to do around Aather. He's hoping that Wrath's freakouts don't apply to the rest of the team.

3. Ruby is cccccomplicated! He's having trouble navigating the web of relationships and former hate/toxic relationships and sexual shenanigans and -- oh god how am I ever going to figure all of this out without a scorecard. (He is in the process of writing out a relationship web in his notebook just so he can figure out how the fuck Ruby works okay.) He'll get used to it eventually, but right now everything is intertwined with everything else and he'd just like to stay in his corner and be the team doctor for a while.

So how's Yukio doing at being the New Guy compared to some of the other New Guys Ruby's gotten in the past? Since he's apparently managed to avoid getting shanked.

OKAY, SO, What are we, Mal? :o

IDK MAN it's complicated on facebook. He likes her a lot! And the kissing is nice, and the flirting, and I think if Mal were someone who were functional at relationships he'd have asked her out and made something more official out of it. But Mal is someone who just ... isn't ... good at that, even pre-Serenity valley. Right now, he's kind of in denial about the fact that he has two women expressing romantic interest in him, with a third he's gonna have UST with as well. As such, he's letting both relationships meander along and not. Really stopping to think about the fact that one of these days he's going to have to pick one or negotiate an open relationship or something. So yeah. Important teammate definitely, romantic interest definitely, nnnooott sure how this is going to actually going to end up working out. He needs to sit down and think things through.

Reverse! How does Judith feel about their romantic-ish relationship?

How is Mal likely to react if Jaina tells him about Mitchell?

HA HA. On the one hand, he likes Jaina! HE's definitely interested in Jaina. And he's not sure he's comfortable with there being ~another man~ involved because he likes Jaina dammit, and Mal tilts towards monogamy at the end of the day. On the other hand, he's got two women interested in him, and he is interested in both of them right back, and he is FLIRTING with both of them, so he's got zero grounds to be the least bit upset over Jaina also having two dudes she's interested in. In fact, if he sits down and thinks about it, he'll be relieved that he's not the only one who's kind of pursuing multiple involvements, and that the arrangement could work out quite nicely if they're all in agreement about it. Also Mitchell is a fine looking man and if threesomes happen Mal is super not upset about that.

So. IDK basically?? Surprise definitely, and some dismay, but after he thinks it through he'll come around to the idea pretty quickly.

How's Mitchell feeling about that whole "killed and bit Mal" thing? Less guilty now that more time has passed?

1. Why the hell do I turn into a terrible person who cuts on my teammate? (Obviously he can't get this one because he and Shinra are different people, but ICly this is what he wants to know the most.)

2. Is my brother still alive back home? (He's gotten a memory that involves Rin possibly getting executed and. If his older brother is dead then he is going to kill all the things hollllyyy crap.)

3. How did my adopted father die? (He knows it's happened, but he doesn't know how and suspects that -- once again -- his older bro is holding out on him.)

What are three things Spitfire wants to know about his past? And what's the memory you're looking forward to the most as a player?

SO HOW BAD(/GOOD) WAS HAKUREN'S ADVICE SO FAR . . .

UH. Well. Technically I suppose it was good advice because Yukio is benefiting from talking to Lucifer, and does need to give himself time to relax about stuff. Otherwise he keeps running headlong into problems that wouldn't be nearly so bad if he gave them enough time to resolve themselves. But practically speaking Hakuren's advice got him to go talk to Lucifer NOW, which made his day EVEN WORSE!! and triggered even more stress and just. Yukio's time at Aather has been pretty crappy so far, which he's exasperated by (ironically) asking people for help and following through on their advice in the least useful way. He needs to talk to Hakuren again actually, because Celty "remembered" him growing up to be Shinra and that's kind of a big worry for him right now.

So what IS going on between Allen and Three? What kind of relationship is that?

HILARIOUS and also actually kind of awesome! He's proud of her for managing to do something she wanted to do, even if it's ... well ... definitely not something he would ever have any interest in. He does hope for her sake that her boss is benevolent and not using her or something, because he kiiiind of worries about that. But overall he thinks her conquering is awesome, especially since the time and location of his own world means that he's in no danger of getting conquered himself. :Dd

LIKE I SAID IRL it was totally related to army antics. |D I figure that, early on in the war, he and some of his boot camp buddies were on leave in an Independent-friendly town! And that like they usually do in Independent-friendly towns, they got horribly drunk and tried to go have fun. Well. Someone in the group suggested that they all get matching tattoos, and Mal was like I WANT MINE ON MY BUTT. 8D Unfortunately for him, he's the first one to get the tattoo and thus the others have sobered up enough not to get their tattoos by the time he's finished. Thus he's the only one stuck with it.

Torn between "this guy is a weirdo who makes me uncomfortable" and "this guy is actually kinda nice"! The offer for the bed and the shower completely threw him off, as have any offers to help him relax, even well-intentioned ones. Yukio is just ... really not great at relaxing, even in a place like Aather. So interacting with Souya is often frustrating and confusing and actually more difficult than dealing with Lucifer or Acedia, since with those two he can just be sarcastic and not feel bad about it. Souya on the other hand does seem to at least marginally care, so he feels bad about going into sarcastic dick mode. So basically he thinks Souya's pretty okay but won't admit it, and still isn't really sure what to do with all this friendliness Souya's got.

Which is to say, not a whole lot :'D No offense Luke, but your advice sucks. He's still angry with Lucifer for antagonizing his brother, even if he's not saying as much. He knows Rin should have kept better control of himself, but the fact of the matter is that Lucifer makes it easy for his bro to lose it, and Yukio haaaaates people who do shit like that. (Well okay, he kind of hated Shura already, but he was still pissed off about his brother losing it out on the camping trip :|) He also doesn't really like Lucifer's approach to emotions either. Like ... Yukio's the sort of guy who can get along with Mukuro just fine, but there's some difference between the two of them that just pisses him the hell off. Though that might be the "you made bro lose his cool in front of me on my first day" talking. AND Lucifer's a dick AND he pushes Yukio's buttons AND why can't I stop taling to you1!!

So despite all of this anger and hate and :|, there is a part of Yukio that enjoys getting to be a dick in conversations. There's some pretense of "friendship," yeah, but Yukio still snipes and jabs and it's kind of like fencing with someone you don't particularly like. It hurts more when they get trap you or jab your weak spot, but just the act of sparring with them is so damn satisfying :||| And -- honestly? If he managed an actual positive relationship -- or positive/sarcastic, like the one he has with Mukuro -- he might really be willing to consider them friends. Yukio can manage antagonistic relationships pretty well, all things considered. He still puts up with Shura to the point where they can train and work together, after all. He probably enjoys the parts of their conversations that are actually competitive and not just Shura making fun of him for being a repressed scaredy-cat moleface. Similarly, when he and Lucifer are talking about things that aren't Rin or how hypocritical Yukio is (and sometimes even during those subjects), Yukio does honestly kind of enjoy their conversations. It's challenging! It's interesting. And that's why Yukio stays and talks rather than walking off or abandoning the pretense altogether. There is some kind of .. .thing ... there somewhere.

... I'd ask for reverse but you graciously already did this for me and I didn't reply, oops. How about Lucifer and Mephisto? How much more hilarious is this situation now that another "family member" has shown up?

Mal, yes! But he's not homesick for Serenity yet -- he's homesick for Shadow. Which is hilarious. He thinks it'd be nice to see his Ma and the ranch again and he hasn't figured out why he hasn't gotten any memories of her while he's an adult. :Da HMMM, I MUST BE BUSY WITH MY JOB?

Yukio doesn't really miss home, unless you count having decent medical facilities. His father is dead and his brother is here, so there's really nothing for him back home that can't wait.
